Trail Description

The Bookcliffs (aka 18 Road) Trails are located to the north of Fruita below the mesa rim and there is also one trail that tracks up onto the mesa rim as a loop ride - click on map above to get linked to a trails page that shows The Edge trail as well as the trails above. Trails are predominantly single track in a desert environment. During April when I was there, there were quite a few wildflowers and cacti in flower at the time.

No pictures of these trails but have a look at the video below to get an idea of the trails below the mesa rim. The video shows some of the trails in the centre and western portions of the map above. The trails are generally fairly straightforward to ride being roller coaster and sweet flowing trails in general. There are some sections with quite steep pinch climbs but most are rideable.

Note that the trails are very exposed with few trees and can be subject to snow (as occurred the day after the video was taken) so prepare accordingly for hot or cold weather as appropriate.
